Cartomancy with Playing Cards | Seven of Spades

In cartomancy with playing cards, the Seven of Spades (7♠) is a card of misfortune.

All sevens refer to achievement, but the suit of Spades is negative, negating the positive aspect of achievement and turning into failure or, at least, big problems. The difference with the Seven of Clubs is that the problems signified by the Seven of Spades are harder to work around, they also tend to not be the result of the querent’s lack of effort, but rather they arise from bad luck.

The Seven of Spades is a relatively easy card to understand. It shows negative circumstances causing upheaval. In love, because the negativity is not the result of anyone’s effort, it can symbolize a volatile atmosphere (the bad things don’t need to be actively sought, they just happen) and lack of comprehension and understanding. Often the card, if it comes at the end of a row of meh cards, shows that the relationship will end abruptly. If the person is single, he or she may be going through an unlucky period where they either meet no one or they meet the wrong people. A Face card with the Seven of Spades nearby gives a strong indication that the person is wrong for the querent, for whatever reason (look around).

The same holds true for more material readings. Bad luck in your work life can take any number of forms, depending on the other cards. In general it shows turns for the worse, failure, shutting down a business and lack of money.

If the Seven of Spades falls with positive cards, especially if good cards follow it, it can point to circumstances that the querent initially believes to be bad will be  a blessing in disguise. It can also show that a breakup or a negative situation will be temporary.

Psychologically, the Seven of Spades speaks of an unstable state of mind, it can point to anger issues and aggressiveness. With cards of sadness it can mean that the person is like the donkey from Winnie the Pooh.

Some Combinations:

10♣ – 7♠ – 6♠ = a serious accident (not fatal)
7♠ – 2♠ = violent arguments
8♣ – 7♠ – 4♠ = being terminated abruptly
4♦ – 7♠ = a deal falling through
9♣ – 7♠ – 5♠ = long periods of bad luck or stasis
