I’m currently visiting my parents in Italy, so I’m going to keep this short and sweet. I lost my keys. As I probably already mentioned, I hate lost object readings because they are incredibly difficult to decipher, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try. The cool thing about playing cards is that most people have them at home. This is the reading that came up:
7♠️ – 8♥️ – 10♠️ – 2♦️ – J♦️
If I had to tell you I understood this reading I’d be lying. The one thing that seemed clear to me is that it was in a place made for people (Eight of Hearts), so the living room was an option, though it seemed strange, since I always keep my keys in my old bedroom. There were also those two diamonds indicating messages, which I didn’t understand.
Well, it turned out I suddely lost (Seven of Spades) the keys the previous evening (Ten of Spades) during a dinner (Eight of Hearts), and I was contacted by the owners through a friend of mine who knows them.

I tend to use Lenormand for lost objects, just three cards. I ask for a description of where the lost item is, so I get a kind of snapshot of the place to look. And it’s difficult because IME, the interpretation has to be dumbed down. The Heart is „red.“ The Scythe is „knife.“ The Book is „book.“ Argh.

My teacher used to find lost objects with incredible ease, but my success rate is lower than with other questions (around half the times, maybe a touch more depending on the context). Unfortunately with these questions the answer is so open that it’s really hard to decode the symbolism. Sometimes the cards are as clear as a small movie, sometimes they could just as well be showing me a middle finger 😁 in this case it was actually relatively understandable, it was my fault for trying to make them say something they weren’t saying

It’s funny because at some point the people in her building went to her to find the location of anything they lost.
She could find lost rings for instance. She would tell you something like “you’ll find it under a piece of furniture in the living room”.
One time she told a person who had lost a dog that the dog would come back on its own but would be all scratched, and so it was: the dog had walked on broken glass and its paws were bleeding.
Another very impressive thing was when she told a querent who wasn’t feeling well that she would find a cursed nail inside her bed pillow. Generally, nails are represented by the Ace of Spades and there must have been the Four of Hearts to indicate the bed in the spread. Well, the querent did find a nail inside her pillow. Nobody had put it there. It was an esoteric attack using Italian witchcraft and was meant to drive the querent insane.

Thank you very much for reply. Скажите пожалуйста, а потерянную собаку в раскладе представляет карта двойка червей?

At least in the system of cartomancy I was taught, a pet can generally be represented by the Jack of Hearts. Keep in mind that there are many systems for reading playing cards, so in other systems the card that indicates pets may vary

For awhile, we were doing these readings as a practice game at a forum. Someone would hide an object, and everyone would pull cards and try to find it. I learned that I have better success doing these readings for myself than I do for other people. I know the layout and decor of my house, so that helps. Other people can misidentify the unusual things, like a carved Balinese mask or a puzzle box.
And sometimes people just decide to troll the thread. I kept getting Lilies for one lady who insisted that there was nothing white in her home. The object was under her pillow, and her sheets and pillowcase were white.

That’s another source of difficulty, I think: if you don’t know the layout of a place it’s hard to give details, although to be fair when someone actually needs help finding something they will tend to be cooperative and less trolly 😁
